The 2021 summer of sport kicks off tonight with the opening game of the much-anticipated UEFA Euro 2020.

By the time the tournament reaches the Round of 16 the Tissot-sponsored Tour de France clicks into gear. Then two days’ later Wimbledon’s famous lawns will spring to life.

Royal Ascot is depleted from the usual 280k to 50k guests but chief executive Guy Henderson assured the Racing Post earlier in the week that the visual spectacular of hats, frocks, toffs and turf will prevail.

Soon after the Euros end the 149th Golf Open at Royal St George’s tees off – a day before the British Grand Prix at Silverstone revs up.

In the United Kingdom, by the time it gets to late July, your average Brit has pretty much waved goodbye to the summer but the Olympics in Tokyo provide a Mario Cart boost to Anglo Saxon / Celt sports fans, who would otherwise retire to the gloaming.

And then it all starts over again – the The Premier League, LaLiga, French premier Ligue 1, Bundesliga International GmbH and Lega Serie A all reboot by mid August for another football season.

Mediacells have created a #ClubSocial for the UEFA EURO 2020 to showcase the most-engaged national official team Twitter accounts with a brand new research lens from next week.

Pre-tournament, England have the most engaged fans but are hotly pursued by Equipe de France and both already showing their national characters in posts.

Here’s celebrating a sizzling summer of sport.
