T-Orange: Mediacells successfully predicts merger go-ahead in Q1 2010 |
The Q4 2009 official operator subscriber KPIs show Telefonica strongest data and contract revenues.
We said: "Telefonica O2 will continue to grow in Q4 2009 as the golden quarter heads towards an iPhone 'giftfest'."
Telefonica O2 official subscriber figures for Q4 2009 show an increase in its UK subscriber base by 1.6% to 21.2 million subscribers. This is alongside the 99% accurate iPhone sales predictions we successfully realised.
Elsewhere, we said: "TMUK is the problem child of TMO group - Despite decent ARPU in UK there is no growth in the subscriber base and the Orange-T-Mobile mereger will inveitably get the go-ahead by the end of Q1."
On March 1, 2010, T-Mobile, the British arm of Deutsche Telekom, and France Telecom's Orange won EU regulatory approval on Monday for their plan to merge after they pledged to give up some radio spectrum. T-Mobile and Orange said in November their 50-50 joint venture would give them a market share of about 37%, putting them ahead of current British market leaders O2 and Vodafone Plc.
