Wednesday, September 19 - T-Mobile announces German partnership with Apple

Thursday, September 20 - Orange announces France partnership with Apple

It's Jobs for the O2 boys as the Apple CEO announced an exclusive deal with O2 UK today, offering the i-Phone on 18 month tariffs, this November.

One of the operators losing out on the deal has referred to the O2 victory as 'madly money-losing', reports  Richard Wray, communications editor for the Guardian.

Although this can be seen as sour grapes from snubbed rivals, the details of the revenue share will be announced by O2 tomorrow, it is believed.

Rumours are abound that the revenue O2 have agreed to pay Apple ranges from 10% to 40%; the last figure is understood to incorporate commissions to UK nationwide retailer, Carphone Warehouse.

Meanwhile, the iPod Touch is being heralded as the product that could, ironically, cannibalize the iPhone, at least with existing iPod users, due to its touchscreen technology and ability to hook up to the internet via WiFi, allowing over-the-air downloads of iTunes.

Mediacells forecasts that increasing pressure from the global third party application suppliers will curb Apple's enthusiasm in the mid-term and prevent it from cashing in on lucrative 'exclusives' with selected operators because they will be steadfastly forced by the Web 2.0 crowd to open up the iPhone's closed architecture.
