Social Network warfare on a mobile near you

MySpace wunderkind CEO, Travis Katz, talks a good game in New Media Age this week (07.02.08) with bullish forecasts that within five years mobile will generate half the MySpace traffic.

Facebook rolled out mobile sites at the same time as MySpace last year and trounces MySpace’s estimated* 417,000 unique users with a whopping 680,000 unique users.

Vodafone is championing the MySpace service with no figures announced to substantiate its success. O2 Active on the other hand, Facebook’s initial partner in the UK, has reported 200,000 users checking their profile from the O2 portal.

Each time a user turns his 8120 on the first screen asks “Do you want to log into Facebook now?”
